How to add page numbers to a PDF

  1. Select a PDF, or drop it onto the box.
  2. Choose where the numbers go, their format and size. You can start from another number or leave the cover page unnumbered.
  3. Press Add page numbers, then download the PDF.

How your files stay private

Your browser writes the numbers onto the pages in memory, on your device. The page is locked so it cannot send data to any other website. When you press Start over or close the tab, everything is cleared.

Limits

  • One PDF at a time, up to 50 MB
  • Password-protected or restricted PDFs can't be changed
  • Numbers are written in a standard font, in dark grey

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Your browser adds the numbers on your own device. The file is never sent to our servers or anyone else's.

Do turned pages get the number in the right place?

Yes. The number goes where you see the page's top or bottom, and reads the right way up.

Can I skip the cover page?

Yes. Tick Don't number the first page; numbering then starts on page 2, from the first number you choose.
