  2. 50 KB is already chosen as the target. If the form also asks for a pixel size, choose Largest side.
  3. Press Compress, then download. The result is a JPG of at most 50 KB.

How your files stay private

Your browser does the compressing, in memory, on your device. The page is locked so it cannot send data to any other website. When you press Start over or close the tab, everything is cleared.

  • JPG, PNG and WebP; results are saved as JPG (transparent areas become white)
  • Images are never made smaller than 320 pixels on the longest side

Questions

Will the file really be under 50 KB?

Yes. The tool saves real files at different quality levels and keeps the best-looking one that is not over 50 KB, counting 1 KB as 1,000 bytes - so it is under the limit however the form counts.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your browser compresses them on your own device. They are never sent to our servers or anyone else's.

How does it reach the size I choose?

It tries real saves at different quality levels and keeps the best-looking one that is not over your target. Only if even low quality is still too big does it make the picture smaller, step by step.

The form says “under 100 KB” - will it be accepted?

The file will be at most 100,000 bytes, which is under 100 KB however the form counts it. Some forms also ask for a pixel size; use Largest side for that.
